Here are some staple items that should be made available at your wardrobe for a trendy yet modest hijabi look.
1. Hijab (Scarf, khimar, Niqab)
Having different collections of scarf is a gradual process but trust me you can't get enough of them as they come in different designs, shapes and sizes. There are many YouTube video tutorials as well as picture tutorials to get inspirations on how to style them.
2. Brooches and pins
Brooches are fashion statements. and quite an essential for hijabis, it is used to attached hijab to the dress and you can also use it to accessorize your outfit. Pins are used to hold the hijab while styling it, they add details to your scarfs and total look.
3. Long Sleeves Tops, shirts and mini dresses
Since you don’t wanna show off your skin, it is wise to invest on long sleeves.
You can pair Tops and shirts with skirts while mini dresses are most suitable on trousers (not leggings)
4. Blazers/Jackets and kimono
Blazers are best to be worn with maxi sleeveless dresses for an added sophistication. It also add substance to a more refined look. it usually gives a formal look.
kimono is like a cover jacket on a fitted outfit because it usually very loose so it gives that modest finishing.
5. Long Skirts
Skirt is very essential for an hijabi, i personally love the ladylike feelings it gives and it can be styled with tops, shirts, blazers and jacket.
it can give both formal and casual look depending on how its styled.
6. Trousers and leggings
Who would argue about the comfort of wearing trousers? They are best paired with mini dresses and kiomons to get a modest look.
leggings are usually worn under skirts, abayas and gowns just to prevent the legs from showing they are more suitable for that purpose than trousers
7. Sleeves and Bolero
These are added accessories to provide cover-up for sleeveless and short sleeve tops. The length and style may vary.
8. Maxi Dress
This one is my favorite. I just feel wrapped up with extra confidence every time I wear a maxi dress. It will go on any occasion. They are simply fabulous
9. Abayas
They come in different designs and colors they are usually free and comfortable
10.Traditionals
If you are a Nigerian you would agree that this is an essential for the owambe(parties) and Eid Celebrations. These include Ankara,Guinea,Kampala and so on.
Just choose a modest style to sew it with and rock it like a diva.
